Where is all this cool furniture??

[ Posted by krista Wed, 29 Aug 2007 13:57:17 GMT ]

I have a bone to pick! I am disappointed in our local furnitre stores. It seems that everyone around our area (within comfortable driving distance and delivery range) decorates their houses in country motif! I am sick of it! also we have a rash of people who do classic, victorian and other things you would find out in the middle of nowhere. So when it comes time for me to decorate i cannot find anything! I love ikea. but it is all the way in Canton, MI. Eq3 is all the way in Grand Rapids. And so either i pay through the nose for delivery or just as much to borrow or rent a truck and get it myself. I have tried to get EQ3 from Art van but they Botched the entire sale and now i do not recommend them to anyone because the sales person was not well informed on the product and we did not get what we want and it took them 10 months to resolve our issue!

I have also been angry at a lot of dealers, makers and what-not. What is with the idea that contemporary means black? can't you make it is light colors too?? When you decide you want something contemporary from one of those wal mart or target finds they are in either black or espresso. What about white? what about light maple?? Blond pine?? anything.

Just because it is temporary they make it dark but that throws off my Qi. I cannot do dark colors and sharp corners, too drastic. I like light airy things but shapr and crisp.

So now i have found  some things on the net but nowhere in the state to get them. *sigh*

Depression Battle day 3

[ Posted by krista Wed, 29 Aug 2007 13:41:51 GMT ]

I have taken my third pill of Effexor last night. This is the third night where iaid in bed for hours unable to slee. I will be calling the doc and pharmacy today, actually i am waiting to have the nurse at the office call me back (will update on that)

So i am tired and unable to sleep. Unable to focus my eyes from either a dizzy feeling or lack of eye muscle. But i am able to concentrate wonderfully! I am also a general happy. I did get angry last night at something.. Twice. I did not cry about it tho. I said my peace and had resolution instead of getting upset and holding grudge for the next week. Sad things come but they go away so fast emotionally. I am able to handle the kids with a straight mind. but i still feel like i am encased in a limbo from the dizzy feeling. I had some blood pressure issues. Typically i run low around 110/70 ISH. today after my run i went all the way up to 174/103 but i really pushed myself in the mile run.

We will see what is to be said about all of this. I still think it is odd that I have taken to this medicine and it was on the first day i felt effects. ODD?

I have been blogging about revamping your clothes and using what you have on hand and save money instead of buying a whole new wardrobe.

This girl has taken the simple t-shirt revamp to a whole new level.

This is a must see for freestyle t shirt reconstructing with flair!

Shrinky dinks !! on the cheap!

[ Posted by krista Mon, 27 Aug 2007 19:13:04 GMT ]

I found something that is a little bit cool, a little bit crafty and a little bit of recycling.

It is shrinky dinks! apparently you do not have to run to your local craft store for these! you can just reuse some plastics you might have on hand that you were going to throw out!

I am so excited for this because i used to play with these when younger, but now i am older i can think of other applications but i am too cheap to buy things for crafting. So here is a little tutorial from chrisjob at curbly.com

Money or the love of conveinance???

[ Posted by krista Mon, 27 Aug 2007 19:05:24 GMT ]

I have a love of roughing it sometimes.. SOMETIMES!  When it comes to camping i have recently fell out of love of roughing it because no one else likes to be in the same misery. ERR i mean "rustic camp sight"

I was a girl scout for a long time and always was thought many different survival and wilderness things but NEVER got to use them. SO  when i was a child i dreamed of really roughing it. Making use of the things nature provided. and a lot of those things can be worked into our lives to save a few bucks here and there around the house. simple things can be done like hanging the laundry out to dry instead of a dryer, growing your own fruits and veggies and other little things. I have came upon one i want to try. It would be good for camping and for around the house, but i cannot think weather or not it would be good to save money.. It sure would be neat to try it out.

It is how to build your own solar cooker.

How awesome would that be to have something to cook on that does not require the use of any gas tanks while camping.. Just click the picture for the information..

Visit to Grand Haven

[ Posted by krista Mon, 27 Aug 2007 17:55:38 GMT ]

This last Saturday we went to Grand haven with the two boys. We had to hold out on the trip because of the rain and what was going to be an entire day of light houses and sightseeing became a trip to spend a few hours on the beach of lake michigan because we wanted our oldest to be on his first real big beach. We had told him about going to one and he was excited so we were on a mission. We drove to Grand haven and only had a few house until we had to leave and get them home for bed. We got there and walked the pier. He seemed to be petrafied of the edge but had fun because it was new. He loved the water. we had lots of fun. As for the city of Grand haven, it looks nice. It seems to have lots of boats and cute little shops. We wished we could have seen more but as for having two YOUNG boys, we cannot do much of the things that would bore them .. That is what Monday through Friday are for :)

Here are some of my pics I got.

Wholesome, finally!

[ Posted by krista Mon, 27 Aug 2007 17:38:11 GMT ]

I have been recently looking at the old navy styles that are on their website fgor the fall. I am impressed! There seems to be some pretty decent things out now that do not show a lot of indecent things. We have all lived through the Paris hilton miniskirts, the clevage showing tops, and the belly showing mini t's and I was sick of it. As much as we would like to preach to our children "it does not matter what you look like on the outside, it is the inside that counts" But what you wear makes you what is you. If you want to be unique, be prepared to qbe treated different, if you want to dress sexy, be prepared to be treated like an object.  In real life you cannot go into an interview wearing a miniskirt or have your hair dyed purple and be taken seriously. If you dress that way, expect to be treated differently than the person who wears the buisness suit and tie.

We need to tell our oversexed teens too to tone it down. The girls were showing way too much skin. what is a guy going to want from you on a first date? You have already shown him everything you have.  Lets get back to basics, get back to certain expectations. I believe when you walk into a room, your clothing says a lot about you and also says to other people in a non verbal way if oyu respect them or not. This is why we wear sunday best to church, this is why we cover our feet at the white house. People have just lost their way and the distorted idiots in the fashion industry who thrive on shock value and pretentious art have lowered our society standard on dress.. all for money.

But when i see a refreshing sight like the old navy trapeze and the jumper dresses, it makes me think there is hope for these girls to cover up. Providing there is a sweater to go over the shoulders on the trapeze dresses and there is undershorts and tights for the jumper. :)

Geotrax toy review

[ Posted by krista Fri, 24 Aug 2007 17:41:02 GMT ]

For a couple months now we have been potty training our oldest boy. It has been a long challenge and he has been going through potty charts and rewards. For his first reward we got him somethinghe had seen on on a recorded show that was recorded last year. It was the geotrax train system. Looked kinda cool. I looked online for a starter pack and it led me to get him the grand central station.

geotraxcentralstation

He loved it! it was awesome. it is easy for a child to put the trax together and they are not confusing. He liked the idea that the train can be played with off the trax too so he  drive it all around the house following it.

The remote is so simple for kids too. A lever that goes back and foward only to control the train so nothing difficult. All the tracks, roads, and whatknots are compatable for this set so you can get the skyscraper that has the roads and it will hook right up to the grand central station that has the tracks.  Very resonable priced too. so you can collect them all overtime and they will rarely get board with it. It is good for kids that are older too. I know my boy will probably play with this for at LEAST 3 or 4 more years (I HOPE!)

But be stocked up in the AAA batteries. It is not a battery eater, unless it is played with a LOT! almost all the individual stations have sounds and motions on them but those do not kill the batteries that bad. It has been almost a month and the fire station is still going but we change the batteries every 2-3 weeks on the train's engine because he uses it a lot.

The only big complaint is that i have to buy these online so when i do not know when he fills up his potty chart it makes it hard to go out at the last minute to the store to get it i can;t find it.

But so far i have found a decent selection at toysrus.com
