Where is all this cool furniture??

I have a bone to pick! I am disappointed in our local furnitre stores. It seems that everyone around our area (within comfortable driving distance and delivery range) decorates their houses in country motif! I am sick of it! also we have a rash of people who do classic, victorian and other things you would find out in the middle of nowhere. So when it comes time for me to decorate i cannot find anything! I love ikea. but it is all the way in Canton, MI. Eq3 is all the way in Grand Rapids. And so either i pay through the nose for delivery or just as much to borrow or rent a truck and get it myself. I have tried to get EQ3 from Art van but they Botched the entire sale and now i do not recommend them to anyone because the sales person was not well informed on the product and we did not get what we want and it took them 10 months to resolve our issue!

I have also been angry at a lot of dealers, makers and what-not. What is with the idea that contemporary means black? can't you make it is light colors too?? When you decide you want something contemporary from one of those wal mart or target finds they are in either black or espresso. What about white? what about light maple?? Blond pine?? anything.

Just because it is temporary they make it dark but that throws off my Qi. I cannot do dark colors and sharp corners, too drastic. I like light airy things but shapr and crisp.

So now i have found  some things on the net but nowhere in the state to get them. *sigh*

Simplicity people!

[ Posted by krista Mon, 20 Aug 2007 14:52:11 GMT ]

I have been a big fan of Keeping things simple. I believe a table is to eat off of, needs to be a top with legs nothing special. We need to get away from the intricate things and get back to basics! How many people have bought a couch that has so many little puckers and curves and so on where you pay 1000's of dollars for and it goes out of style in a few years?

JUST STOP IT NOW!

I love simple. less clutter.

I am in love with this couch from Jasper Morrison LTD. I am not sure about prices for their stuff but click around on their site. Nice clean designs. Nice simple work.

Make your bathroom appear larger!

[ Posted by krista Fri, 17 Aug 2007 18:26:18 GMT ]

I have a very efficient bathroom. It is small, very small. I do not like large bathrooms at all. It just gives me the free space to pack with clutter. But with a small bathroom it seems odd to jam an entire fiberglass unit in it. It takes up too much space. We have been thinking about going with a simple shower unit and no tub but that will only free up 3 sq ft of floor space for the most part. But here is a solution that makes you feel that there is more space. plus it is different and cute! There are so many other ideas on this website too! it is a must see for the bathroom and other plumbing ideas.

Adding your own touch to clothing

[ Posted by krista Sun, 12 Aug 2007 16:51:27 GMT ]

Now this is what i am talking about.

I have thought that it was a wise idea to recycle your own clothe. Instead of buying new ones you can make them. save some money too with using what is on hand.

A good tip is to use your outdted clothe and give them a little nip and tuck into something unique. Or mayby trim some edges of clothing from winter to make sleeveless shirts and tanks for the summer.

also, you can learn to reconstruct clothing and then get cheap fabric items from your local goodwill store. Now there is a cache of oddities in fabrics.

This is also handy to teach your kids too. They need to think outside of name brands and think that there is only one reason that we wear clothing... for cover and that is it. Forget fashion. Fashion was made for others to make money, same with name brands. They have installed us in a want for their clothing from Birth. Lets start being our own designers like this girl
